Job Description

A specialist hospital is seeking an ophthalmologist trained in oculoplastics. The doctor should be able to assess a patient from both a functional and cosmetic perspective. The evaluation may include an exam of the orbital and eyelid tissues, as well as discussion with the patient regarding appearance after treatment.

Requirements

  • Board-certified in Ophthalmology in the country of origin (American Board, FRCS or equivalent)
  • Undergone training in Oculoplastics and Orbit Fellowship Program
  • Minimum of three (3) years of post-fellowship experience
  • The candidate must have demonstrated clinical excellence and have a track record in teaching and research.
  • Must qualify to be classified as a Consultant by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties
  • Candidates from Spain and South America can be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of vision
  • Assessment of visual field loss due to the eyelid abnormalities or other disease processes
  • Assessment of eye muscle function and appearance
  • Photography to document appearance
  • Intake and confirm patients medical history with discretion
  • Recommend and design treatment plan based on diagnosis
  • Inform nurses of the treatment plan(s) and their duties for plan execution
  • Implement treatment plan including ordering and reviewing test results, performing surgeries, and following-up for continued care
  • Address any questions or concerns of patient and their family
  • Treatment of common problems include, but are not limited to:
  • Dermatochalisis (excess eyelid skin)
  • Ectropion (eyelids turn out)
  • Entropion (eyelids turn in)
  • Orbitaltumors
  • Proptosis and Graves disease
  • Ptosis (droopy eyelids)
  • Skin cancer of the eyelids
  • Trichiasis (eyelashes rub against the eyes)
